New York State Lawmakers Extend Eviction Moratoriums

After the United States Supreme Court’s refusal to extend the nationwide eviction moratorium, New York lawmakers have extended the moratorium so it will stay in effect until January 15, 2022. Thousands of New Yorkers who were facing evictions now have access to additional aid. For more information regarding the legislation, click here.

COVID-19 Public Assistance Reimbursement Program

On August 17, FEMA extended the Emergency Work Completion Deadline to December 31, 2021. Per the White House Memo and the FEMA Advisory, FEMA will provide a 100% federal cost share for all eligible Public Assistance Emergency Protective Measures. Please note that this extended deadline means that all Project Worksheets must be completed and submitted to Grants Portal by February 28, 2022. Government entities and non-profit organizations can still apply for COVID-19 public assistance reimbursement. If you have not already done so, please register for and participate in the upcoming Applicants Brief webinar on September 15 to find out if/how the program can assist in your entity’s COVID-19 financial recovery. You can also review the Applicants Brief Presentation if you are not able to participate in a webinar. You must submit a Request for Public Assistance to patricia.debboli@dhses.ny.gov if you would like to become a program applicant.

Boost Nassau Resource Center

Boost Nassau Resource Center – Connects residents, businesses, and non-profits with COVID-19 financial recovery grant and loan programs. Newly added to the Center is the BOOST Main Street Small Business Grant Program and the Boost Nassau Nonprofit GrantThe Household Assistance Program will be released soon.

Emergency Broadband Benefit

The Emergency Broadband Benefit is a temporary FCC program to help households struggling to afford internet service during the pandemic. As of May 12, 2021, eligible households will be able to enroll in the program to receive a monthly discount off the cost of broadband service from an approved provider. Eligible households can enroll through an approved provider or by visiting GetEmergencyBroadband.org.  For more information call 833-511-0311, or visit fcc.gov/broadbandbenefit.

COVID 19 FUNERAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, FEMA is providing financial assistance for COVID-19 related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020. Applications begin on April 12, 2021.  Multilingual services will be available.  Call the dedicated toll-free phone number to get a COVID-19 Funeral Assistance application completed with help from FEMA’s representatives.

Please try again later if you get a busy signal or your call doesn’t connect. There is no deadline to apply. Hours of Operation are Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
